Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if therapy is good for my child?
Therapy is a safe space for kids to process their experiences, If you have noticed a change in your child’s behavior or ability to regulate their emotions, or if your child has experienced trauma, therapy is a great option for healing. Therapy can also be a valuable resource before and through a major life change (divorce, death, move, etc.)

Do you prescribe medication?
No, but I am happy to support your family through the process.

What role do I play as a caregiver in therapy?
My practice always involves caregivers. I make sure you are a part of the process as much as needed. Depending on the child’s needs, caregivers may join sessions. Caregivers are a part of the treatment planning and goal-setting process.

What does a typical session look like?

My play therapy practice is more directive. I allow the child space to process experiences, and through play, I teach skills to guide them. We typically do this work in the sand tray, but I often let children guide their medium of play (art, dance, music, etc).

How are you qualified?
I have worked over eight years in the field of youth mental health. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker which requires continuous education and supervision. This process is similar as a Registered Play Therapist. I am continuously learned about new interventions to support mental health.
